Autumn Chills

Autumn Chills

Posted by Harriet on 5th Oct 2022

As the wind and rain confirm the beginning of Autumn, I've noticed my feet getting very chilly. Naturally, I thought this was a great opportunity to try out the sock yarn I've been looking for an excuse to knit up.

As a lover of all things nature, when we got our new stock of the West Yorkshire Spinners Country Birds range, I was itching to start a new project. While my sister opted for the more Christmassy Robin, I was taken in by the rich autumnal colours of Pheasant. I love the idea of wearing socks that match the beautiful birds I see around me in my countryside home.

As a shoe-size eight, I struggle to find women's socks that I don't immediately tear holes in, so having the freedom to adjust the length to fit my feet perfectly means that these socks will last me a long time!

I'm one sock down and halfway through the other. I think making these socks has got me over my dislike for knitting with four needles! The pattern is simple and quick to knit up while watching your favourite spooky or cosy autumnal shows.

I look forward to my feet being warm and cosy once more!
